Nyale: The Nyale Sea Festival at Kuta is one of the major Indonesian festivals. This is celebrated in the first and second week of February. The festival takes place near the lake of Anak Segara which is close to Mt. Rinjani. In this festival, the people of Indonesia offers prayers to their ancestors.
Kasada: This festival is celebrated in the month of February. This is also a festival where the people of Indonesia pray for their ancestors and climb the mountains. Here in this festival they offer water buffalo, chicken, fruits, flowers and many more things.
Fishing Festival: The fishing festival is celebrated in the month of June and is especially celebrated in Pelabuhanratu. In this festival various sailing competitions are arranged. In this festival the people of Indonesia offer prayers and other material things to Nyai Loro Kidul which is the goddess of Southern Seas. This is an important Indonesian festival.
Ramadan: This is also known as Puasa and is actually the month of fasting for the Muslims. After the fasting of a month the Muslims celebrate the festival of Idul Fitri where they visit friends and relatives and distribute sweets among themselves.
Tabut: This festival is celebrated in the month of August. In this festivals the Indonesians built horses with wings and the face of the horse resembles that of a woman. Various mock fights are arranged between two winged horses which is the main attraction of the festival. |
