Malaysia

Malaysia is a part of South East Asia and a federation of 13 states. The entire geographical area of Malaysia has been divided into two parts by the South China and is known as West Malaysia and East Malaysia. Situated on the Malay Peninsula, West Malaysia or peninsular Malaysia shares its borders with Thailand in the North and is connected Singapore in its South by Johor Singapore Causeway and the Malaysie-Singapore Link. The area of West Malaysia comprises nine sultanates namely Johor, kelantan, Perak, kedah, Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor. On the other hand, east Malaysia or Malaysian Borneo covers the Northern part of Borneo Island and shares its border with Indonesia. Under its territory fall two states, Sarawak and Sabah.

Malaysia got its name in the year 1963 when a 14-state federation was formed by the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah. For its unique geographical location, Malaysia is one of the most beautiful countries in South East Asia and attracts large number of tourists from different countries. Diversity in the culture of Malaysian people which is most clearly visible in the different festivals is major tourist attractions of the country. Most of the tourists that visit Malaysia try to be there during the fairs and festivals to have an idea on the culture and tradition of the local people.

Most of the states or sultanates falling inside the territory of West Malaysia are popular tourist destinations and are visited by many tourists. However apart from natural landscapes you find several other tourist attractions in Malaysia which includes the world famous Petronas Towers, wonderful beaches, harbors, shops, delicious traditional foods in the restaurants, theaters and cruises. You may also enjoy your time by opting for interesting activities such as diving, snorkeling, treks to Mt Kinabalu, bird watching, fishing, bicycle tours and a small trip to Gunung Mulu national Park inside which you would find several caves and turtles.
