Thai Cuisine

Thai Cuisine is considered to be one of the best among the Southeast Asian nations. Thai cuisine is such that it reveals a lot about the country's culture and tradition. The cuisine of Thailand has been greatly influenced by the cuisines of India as well as China. But along with the influence of the cuisines of these two countries, Thai cuisine also has its own flavor and taste which attracts a lot of people.
Thai meal is an important part of Thai cuisine. There is no concept of courses in the meals of Thailand. A very important part of the meal is rice. It is like a staple food. The rice is again different in different parts of Thailand. In the northern region, short grain or sticky rice is preferred whereas the people of the southern region prefer to have long grain rice. Another important thing that the people of Thailand prefer is noodles. A very important part of Thai cuisine are the curries and other spicy dishes. These curries are full of sauces. The people of Thailand also love to have cool rice as well. Other than these, meat, beef and pork are also an important part of Thai cuisine. Though they are expensive as compared to other countries still it is preferred by a lot of people.



A very important part of Thai food is fish. It is a frequently available item because the country has a number of rivers and canals. Fish has thus become a staple food of the region along with rice. Fish sauce is a part of each of the recipes of Thai food. Fish sauce is popularly known as Nam Pla and Karpee. Some of the other ingredients of Thai cuisine include lemon, grass, tamarind, coconut milk, black pepper, ginger, galangal, cilantro, garlic, palm, basil, sugar, cumin, turmeric, shallots as well as green onions.

A very important fact about Thai cuisine is that the food is either steamed and stir fried. This is actually done is a particular type of utensil called Wok. There are some food which are grilled as well.
